New single Konya wa Boogie Back
Source.
Halcali's next single will be a collaborative effort with Tokyo No.1 Soul Set on a cover of the 1994 Kenji Osawa/Schadaraparr single Konya wa Boogie Back, which was featured recently on a Nissan TV commercial (video below).
The Halcali version was first released as a downloadable chaku uta version for cellphones, and after it debuted at number 3, it was decided it should be released as a single.
The single will be released on September 23rd, and will be backed with two rerecorded versions of old Soul Set songs, Rising Sun and Innocent Love. Even if Halcali are featured on these b sides too, this is somewhat of a disappointment.
Although it will be nice to see Halcali back in the shops in some form, I guess we'll have to wait a bit longer for a 'proper' Halcali single.
Thanks, as always, to amj!

The song does seem to be doing well in that aspect, but I still won't get my hopes up that the single will do well.
The girls just can't seem to catch a break. ):
I'll just settle for HALCALI still having a record deal and the single charting in the top 100.

Yeah I agree, although what with the CM, the chaku uta doing so well, and the fact that this song was a hit on first release, it might do OK.
Although its a cover, it does have an electro edge which I like.

just so you know, the song has leaked and can be found on this page:

I can't say I'm going to have this song on repeat but I do look forward to hear the B-sides.

Thanks for the link, Julia. I never liked the original, so I can't see this being a favourite. What's with all the covers recently?

The b-sides just leaked and they're not on them. :( I'm upset, was really looking forward to it.

oh, you know what? I'm so sick of their record company. we've waited since January for a new single and then we get this. an another cover. I don't understand why they won't give them something to work with instead. or why they don't care. they're so bad at marketing them so why even keep them if they aren't getting anywhere? I don't understand why Haruka and Yukari don't switch label.

Wow, it's at #9!
I'm usually pretty pessimistic about the whole deal with Sony, but I really hope they don't manage to screw this good exposure up again. PLEASE, Sony!

#9 on the daily charts, I mean.

Saw their MSta appearance. Sands of their career running out? Ironically at #10 this is their highest chart-in in their career.
In other news, CDTV now has over 5000 artists in their database, which is the number of unique acts that have made the Oricon top 100 since April, 1995. Call it 170 months, that's an average of one new artist each day getting into the top 100.

I saw them perform this on...must have been Music Station last month. It also got played at a party I went to on Saturday to a good reaction from dancers. Fingers crossed.

In addition to a pretty good run on the Oricon singles chart "Konya wa Boogie Back" has apparently now clocked up a half-million Chaku Uta downloads.

We might wonder how Sony may seek to capitalise on Halcali's renewed success?
