In at #471

This month’s Oricon Style comes with a nice little pull out booklet ranking the 500 best selling singles and albums of 2006.

Tip Taps Tip was the 471st most popular single of 2006, reaching 27 in the charts (although we knew this already of course) and shifting a total of 17,579 copies.
It’s odd that TTT qualified for the list at all, since it was released in 2005, although I assume that all singles that survived into 2006 were counted.

Although those record sales beat both Twinkle Star and LOOK combined, let’s remind ourselves that for a manufactured pop band on a major record label, having only one single barely make the top 500 cut after an entire years worth of work is a fairly shocking statistic.

With one single just released, another on the way in March and the third album to follow soon after, let’s hope 2007 is a more prolific, artistic, and yes, commercially successful year for Halcali.

Well, as disappointing as the number may look, at least they made it onto the list.
I really didn't expect that at all.

I'm thinking that 2007 will be a better year for the girls.
We just have to stand by and support them!

*cheers to a new year*

Well, I didn't see any way of contacting you directly about this, so this seems as good a place as any.

You may already know about this, but Halcali performed at a concert called Rhythm Nation 2006. I got a hold of the video for it (TV broadcast) from the JPopSuki bittorrent tracker, and thought you might be interested in getting it too. Either you can download the entire concert from there or I can send you just Halcali's part if you like, I'm ripping that for my own personal collection.

Wow. I'm actually pretty surprised that Halcali made the list at all. I wish it was with a better song like TS than TTT though. Oh well. I've got big hopes for them in the new year!

And Arosstheboss it would be really cool if you could upload the halcali performance for everyone to share! *I don't know if i should be asking that here...*

In recent years the Oricon year has run from begin december to end November. During 2006 Oricon decided to shift their year-end to mid-december. So the Top 500 for 2006 actually covers a 54 week period from begin december 2005 to mid-december 2006. Sales from weeks 2006-51 and 2006-52 will count towards 2007 totals.

MegaUpload was giving me trouble so I went ahead and put the file up on my FTP server. Here's the link:

ftp://badandy:311247@sawtelle.dreamhost.com/Halcali_-_Tandem_(Live_@_Rhythm_Nation_2006).avi

As far as I know, they only performed one song, or maybe that's the only one they showed on the TV broadcast :( But it's old school Halcali, everyone should be happy about that.

Maybe you could make this into its own separate post so more people would be able to see and download it? Also, here's a link to the event's website (japanese), in case you would like more info:

Enjoy!

Thanks so much for sharing the live arossthaboss! :)
They did a pretty good job, but the crowd was dead. :/
Yucal didn't look to pleased after she yelled out "Clap your hands!!" and no one moved.
I was actually surprised that the crowd made as much noise as it did at the end there.

Has anyone else checked out the 'Special' section on the girls' official site?
It has a cute little clip of the girls talking about LOOK and Slalom '06 and whatnot.

Also, the new single is now available for preorder on YesAsia.
I'm ordering mine next week. :D
